Welcome to Third Generation Farm's Home Page!
We are glad that you stopped by. The purpose of this blog is for you to get to know us a bit. We work the Miami County and Greentown Farmers Markets and if you have found your way here then it is probably because we have already met or we have met one of your friends.
Who are we?
We are a family that has a vision to see food be grown locally and in such a way that you want to feed it to your family. We are still learning and growing in this process but one thing you will not find coming out of our produce patch is any GMO’s; nor do we use commercial pesticides or herbicides. We are working toward enriching our soil for high nutrient content using less fertilizer and more composted materials with the goal of using all compost in the future. While we grow our produce almost 100% organically we do not and will not go for the organic label because of the extra time and expense it takes to get that certification. That saves you money and makes less work for us.
Locally grown foods are just that, foods grown not too far away from where you live. The produce is not picked before it is ripe and then stored in a big food warehouse until it is shipped to the store where it sits in a cooler for days before finding its way to the store shelf. Our produce is grown in dirt near you and does not come from China, Mexico, or Europe--nor is it trucked in from California or even Michigan.
