Wow, what beautiful weather we are having! It is very comfortable outside. Unfortunately, this cooler weather continues to slow down the produce. It is difficult to realize that it is almost August and the green beans are just now beginning to come off. The tomatoes do not like these cooler temperatures, so the ripening process is slowed down.
A worse challenge to us this year is the lack of pollinators for the squash and melons. I have beautiful squash and melon plants with blooms that are not setting fruit because of a lack of pollinators. These are some very real reasons for everyone to be concerned about the dwindling bee population around the world. If we lose our pollinators a huge section of the our food supply will be in jeopardy. But that is a topic for another time...
Today at the market we will again have beets. This will be the last of them:

I will have an assortment of peppers:
I will have carrots:
There will be a handful of green tomatoes, a very limited amount of ripe tomatoes:
I will again bring some mints for Juleps or tea:
And weekly we have Kimchi and Kraut. Both of these are healthful probiotics, good for your guts and the health of your children.
And I will have a fresh batch of rhubarb/strawberry jam.
